Lactoferrin is a protein naturally present in human secretions (saliva, tears, etc.), as well as in breast milk. Several studies have shown that bovine lactoferrin, also present in animal secretions, improves digestive health and helps maintain the intestinal microbiota of animals. Proferrin® helps renew epithelial cells that form a barrier against infections.

Proferrin® promotes the differentiation and proliferation of intestinal cells under in vitro conditions.

In calves, lactoferrin also increases the number of intestinal cells for improved intestinal wall renewal (Joslin et al. 2002).
